Surprise Beth!!

a huge thank you to everyone for helping make this great for Beth! Here is her thank you, i wanted to share it here as well!

Hi Jeanie!

Just a note to thank you for a most wonderful box and a most wonderful swap. I'm not sure how you organized it, but this was like the quintessential swap box. The box we all hope to get. I wish I had been able to take a picture of the box as you packed it - that was like Christmas! In blue and green. I laughed, I cried - it was a perfect late anniversay, early birthday, happy Monday box!

I'm amazed by the kindess and the giving. Kh'ers are wonderful, but you all went above and beyond. And you handled a great swap Jeanie, and one that I don't think was a simple one. So thank you, give yourself a hug, and do something especially nice for yourself today!

Many many many
Beth

another note!

I just sent out today to Jeanie two skeins of yarn for the package for Beth....a sand-colored alpaca and an ocean-water inspired blue and purple sock yarn. Sorry I didn't have time for more but I am going out of town tomorrow.
This is going to be a fantastic package for her!!!!

surprise goodies

this from Christine:

Okay - I'm not sure if we are supposed to post what we get on the blog or not -but assume we don't want duplicates, so I am going to do it here. If it should go on the blog let me know (and if so, how to do it LOL - I am such a blog virgin! ) :-)

I picked up:
Journal (with whales on inside cover), Seashell notecards, Candle (Beige - called "Sun & Sand"), Stickers (couple of sleeves of fish/sea creatures)

I'll get a skein or two of yarn tonight when I am at the lys for my class unless someone else already has that covered - let me know... I'll ship it all to Jeannie tomorrow.

Amanda: I LOVE the mitered square handbag! I also like the Sea Foam Lace Shawl and the Baltic Sea Stole :-) Chris

patterns for beth!

pick some patterns! this is excerpted from an email from amanda.....opinions?

I'm sorry I didn't post this on the blog, but it was a lot of formatting for the comments box.

Here are some patterns. Let me know which ones you guys like. None of them are ponchos, but there is a mitered square pattern and lots of shawls and a couple socks. I'd be happy to put a little binder together for her or I could send the patterns right to her. What ever you guys think will work best with the package shipping.

Mitered Square Handbag
Baltic Sea Stole
Day at the Beach Sweater
Beach
Shell Beach Shawl
Sea Swirl
The Mystic Sea
Sea and Shells Stole
Sea Foam Lace Shawl
Ocean Tide

theme and plan

the majority who have responded have liked the idea of a beach theme. (those pretty blue yarns marykz mentioned would be pretty!)

I think it would be neat to send her lots of small packages, but I am not sure how Beth would feel about me giving her address out. So I'll collect whatever you can provide for the package. Please PM me through KH and I'll give you my address there.

iwouldratherbeknitting- i got your PM about the needle roll, i hope your hands get better soon!h

amanda- patterns would be great! I know if you contact the seller then they could send it directly to Beth. This way, she could print out copies whenever she needed them :) Let me know, and I'll give you her email.

our surprise for Beth :)

ok.. here are Beth's pertinent answers. I' say we can pick a theme or just do a grab bag. Just add a comment or suggestion. If you'd like to post here, let me know and i'll send you a blog author invite :)

8. Do you have any allergies to pets &/o smoke?
I can smell smoke a mile away – I’d prefer a non-smoker.

9. Are you allergic or adverse to any types of yarns?
I’m adverse to novelty yarns, bright colors, anything scratchy and squeaky acrylics.

10. Fiber preference?
For fall, wool, or a wool blend. I like silk blends, and I love alpaca. I’m not that picky – everything has it’s place, but the softer, the better. I’m more color sensitive, if that makes sense, and I love hand-dyed variations.

11. Theme/Idea/colors?(please list at least two, and up to as many as you can think of!
[Wink] Okay, I have a few ideas:

1. I have several yarns that I have about 600 yards of, and they are just too wonderful to use for kid sweaters! So I’d be looking for ideas, or even complements to those yarns.

2. I love the ocean, the beach, and I love beach colors. Most sea creatures. But no intarsia starfish, or whatever creature, sweaters please! So some natural color combos and ideas for patterns, ect.

3. The grab bag- other things I love that someone can single out or combine: Besides my kids of course, I like dragonflies, elephants, the FALL!, wildflowers, yoga, books. Probably more, but I’m running out of steam.

4. How about a stress relief theme?

12. Pattern or technique you'd like to try?
(a direct link or name is best)
Not really anything comes to mind – I’ve been thinking lately about a poncho though. Vague, I know. I’d like to try mitered squares, maybe more lace, maybe some socks, or anything with interesting color combinations.

I'll collect everything and package it up to make it more cohesive. as soon as you are ready to mail your part, email me for my address :)
